In 1988, the United States Environmental Protection Agency established final regulations governing the managing and upgrading of new and existing underground storage tanks (UST's).  Georgia incorporated these regulations into the Underground Storage Tank Act and its subsequent revisions.  As an owner and/or operator of an UST system, these rules have a significant impact on your business, both financially and operationally.

Consider the following...

• The law requires that tanks be registered.
• If you are not is compliance and do not take necessary steps to become so, you may be subject to significant fines.
• Monitoring wells require proper installation, maintenance, and record-keeping.
• Even new tanks may not be 100% in compliance.
• If you are thinking of closing a facility or you have closed one within the past several years; you can no longer pump out the tanks and walk away.

The authorities will be more lenient if you take action now.  In this business an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
